QUESTION
Why are there so many cases in Indonesia and so few Bangladesh?
there are
172,630,000 <------------------- Bangladesh
1,200,000,000 <---------------- Indonesia
so maybe, more chickens more disease.
also the Avian Influenza mutated making it more contagious.
QUESTION
My last question is: Why did people think this was going to be a pandemic, was it our quick thinking as people that cut it off, or was there never a pandemic.
Answer given by nature.com:
Here is what I understood.
Eventually, everyone in the affected populations would become immune ( immunity would be passed down from parents to children, for example) the strain would with time die down and ultimately end. The most severe pandemic of the past century occurred in 1918, as many as 50,000,000 people died, that was caused by a strain of H1N1 (similar to the one we had recently, with the exception 18,000 people died in that strain. Scientist now believe that strain probably evolved in birds before being capable of infecting people.
Also there have been similar disease such as...
H2N2 - which killed 100,000 people
H3N2 - killed 700,000 people
both of these involved flu viruses that evolved first from another animal most likely pigs, before people were able to contract it.
The only fear that people had about H5N1 is that it would mutate and spread further.
Conclusion
Bird Flu is not as wide spread among people because, it needs to mutate to be transmitted to people, and they have medicine to treat it.
If underlined it is a direct quote
*irritation and swelling of lungs, because of infection.

QUESTION: Why is Bird Flu not as wide spread among people?
HYPOTHESIS: I think the reason Bird Flu is not as wide spread among people is, because it is hard to transmit.PEOPLE WHO USUALLY GET H5N1
ARE...
- People who work with poultry
- Travelers visiting countries that are infected
- People who touch infected birds
- People who consume raw or undercooked poultry,
----- eggs, or blood from birds that are infectedhttp://virus.emedtv.com/bird-flu/how-does-bird-flu-spread.html
